Sixty Second Review

I can't stress to you enough how amazingly good this show is. From start to finish you never know what to expect from the story. Each episode you are given the story piece by piece and once you think you've got it figured they destroy your jigsaw puzzle. The only fault of Jekyll is that its only six episodes long.

Every part of Jekyll has been thought through and planned. Casting is perfect, James Nesbitt will have you thinking he really does have a split personality. It's been a long time since I've watched a Television show with such punch.

If you enjoy a good story with a dark powerful ulta-ego then Jekyll is for you.

Twist and turns around every corner, you never know what to expect. Jekyll sticks to this until the closing seconds.

What a ride, a true modern day masterpiece. From start to finish this production has delivered each and every episode. Writing, directing, acting all what you'd expect from a million dollar movie. Excellent twists and writing have you guessing and gasping at what is revealed.

Again I have to mention the brilliance of James Nesbitt he has added to the brilliance of this production from the opening scene.

It's great to watch and be captured by such excellence in this day and age of mindless television. I can't explain how much of a delight it has been to watch Jekyll unfold. This is Television at its best.

This show is so border line for me, last episode I was enjoying myself. This episode I was bored. It was well... average - nothing special. They are playing it safe! Take some risks, watching television is about escapism! If I want safe I'll play bingo on a Tuesday.

Having Michael state the obvious in voice overs is far from creative, we the audience aren't idiots!

*Freeze Frame* "To break into a house, you must first kick in the door". *Unfreeze*

Do the crew watch these episodes back before they air? I'll continue watching just don't make me regret it!

They have taken the Jekyll & Hyde story not only modernised it, but reinvented it. You never know what you're going to get when you tune in to an episode of Jekyll and this week we see that Tom has been devoured and only Hyde remains. But Hyde has access to all of Tom's memories...

Are there any limits to Hyde's powers? Again I'm worried about the fate of Claire and the children. But again we're surprised again with Hyde's good intentions. This is truly an evil drama at its best.

Hats off to Steven Moffat and his production crew, pure excellence.

All in all, this isn't a bad show. But what I am battling with is relating to the main character Michael. He is so emotionless and down right boring. I could almost mistake him for a robot. He's ego deserves its own show, his MacGyver style gadget making and dry overtones have me gritting my teeth.

His sidekicks Sam & Fi are uninteresting and I can only hope that Michael gets a personality quick. Hopefully next week the formula is a little more inventive.

This week we're given a little back story to explain how Claire and Tom met. Also how Hyde slowly came to be. Back story is so critical to give any story depth. In true Jekyll style we have the blanks filled in.

Miranda is very creative at getting access into the "Company". Strong characters are what bind this show together at its core that and an excellent story to boot.

Next week we'll deal with the aftermath of putting Tom in the box...

Maybe its taken four episodes for me to adjust to the style of this show. Or maybe the cast are starting to work with the characters and get a better understanding of them. But finally I enjoyed this episode. Everything seem to click into place.

We expanding into Michael's family and his brother is far from perfect. The episode again had Michael's voice over a large percent of the episode but these are becoming less irritating.

If the show continues to get better, it may just be watchable!

Do I detect a formula show? Michael helps the helpless every week for cash with a background story of our hero tracking down who burnt him. This will work, it has worked for many shows in the past. Clever writing, good stories and characters with depth are key.

Overuse of Michael's dry "wit" and the constant freeze frame style detract from the shows appeal. I'll hang in, if they can give me something to hang on to. Points to Michael's mother, getting exactly what she wants...
