Review: Veronica Mars: Normal Is the Watchword

Season 2 / Episode 1 / "Normal Is the Watchword"
"Welcome back to Veronica Mars and we have a new case."

Its great to have Veronica Mars back for another season after a break which seemed to take a while to pass. We're thrown back into Veronica's World picking up a few weeks where we left off. This episode falls straight back into what we know and trust. Wallace and other members of are school find themselves failing the school's drug test for no good reason and its Veronica to the rescue.

At times I was a little confused, is Veronica with Logan or Duncan, but later in the episodes things are spelt out for us. Also the bus crash was a shocking turn, it was in the back of my mind that they need a new mystery for us this season and they have delivered big time. Lucky our 09er crew got that limo and that Veronica missed the bus. But poor Meg... Plus who killed Felix?

Normal is the Watchword has a different vibe to the last season, almost a laid back nothing is at stake kinda feel. I look forward to the next instalment.

Review: Bones: The Man in the SUV

Season 1 / Episode 2 / "The Man in the SUV"
"Bones is so focused on her work, yet still able to have a great sense of fashion?"

Again another strong episode. With a great mix of stand alone story & character development. We learn a little more about Booth and his personal life and 'Bones' get a little closer. The only thing I didn't find so believable were the use of "Flesh eating bugs".

The intro for the show has a cool feel and vibe do it. The episode again confirms that Bones is very focused on her work and has zero knowledge about pop culture. Yet she is still able to make great fashion statements and choices... Which I find a little hard to swallow.

All in all, enjoying the show and I watch with interest to see where it will lead.

Review: Bones: Pilot

Season 1 / Episode 1 / "Pilot"
"A great welcoming to the world of 'Bones'."

I watched this new show without much knowledge about it. Only that David Boreanaz was playing the male lead, who which we had grown to love from his role in Buffy and the spin off self titled series Angel.

The episode was extremely well paced, introducing the characters and their backgrounds while solving the case at hand. Music played a major role as well throughout the episode giving an extra dimension to the visuals. I particularly enjoyed the montage of Bones piecing together the skull. All of the actors are extremely believable in their roles. I only have one minor issue which is the fact that Agent Booth's background as a sniper just doesn't fit with his personality. He displays no characteristics of a heartless killer. Which we know Boreanaz can portray as he has shown his darker side on Buffy many times before.

Its great that the importance of the characters shared equal air time as introducing and giving depth to the characters. If the show can continue to do this and not have us just focusing on cases each week I think Bones will fast become one of my favourites television shows this year.
