Sixty Second Review

Excellent, after last week's effort Underbelly is back on track. Suffer the Children is exactly what Underbelly should be. The episode was paced well, all the events playing out and well timed. I'd also like to note the lack of sex in this episode. They seem to use Sex Scenes as filler, if there isn't anything exciting happening in the story they use sex as the filler.

The killing of the final Moran brother was brutal exactly as Carl would have wanted it. The crime so heartless and it was portrayed extremely well on screen.

I was starting to loose faith in Underbelly but this week they really delivered. They returned things to original standard of the first few episodes. Great television and I'm proud that it was produced in Australia.

Underbelly is starting to loose credibility. At the centre of this week's episode is Moran's underground money loaning operation. Which stags a teenager whose dream it is to open his own hot pie van business. First he is offered the money at no doubt interest free rates by Mrs Williams but declines. He is then declined at the banks... So then when the clear option would be to return to Mrs Williams he goes to a loan shark at and signs up at some stupidly high interest rate... Of course he can't make the repayments and the loan shark takes his grandmother's property as payment. Look, before this he should have went to Mrs Williams and asked to borrow the money and repay the shark. Even when Mrs Williams witnesses the shark taking goods for payment she does nothing but insult the shark. When clearly she should have offered to pay the kids debt.

This is a major plot hole or maybe something that the writers have made up to make us feel more attached... But it seems that they are using this event as the straw that broke the camels back. With Carl now declaring war on the Moran family.

Again I think underbelly is distorting the story too much in order to hype things up to keep us watching. Truth is always better than fiction. I just can't buy that a kid who wanted to start his own business would be so stupid not to see a solution right under his nose and then kill himself, because that wouldn't clear his debt anyway.

Underbelly is starting to verge on low grade pornography. Even Chopper Reed was quoted this week saying that none of these real life gangsters were playboys. I'm sure the writers of Underbelly could have found other avenues to focus on to keep us watching.

This episode really seemed like filler focusing mostly on the ladies of the underworld. Who of course go where the money is and seem to cast a blind eye to where it comes from. Plus we can all tell where the relationship between Benji & Mrs Williams is going.

Look there also seems to be pattern forming, someone has to die every episode... The show needs to stick a little more to the facts, back down on the smut and tell the story as it was.

As predicted revenge is ordered for Mark Moran's killing and it's Dino who takes the fall. As we're introduced to another new face Benji we soon see the end of Dino.

This was another hour of captivating television. Everyone including the police are trying to piece together the parts of the puzzle that is the murder of Mark Moran. Underbelly is really consistent on the entertainment meter, so there really isn't anything really to report.

We'll see what unfolds next week.

Underbelly keeps you guessing. By the end of the second episode they had killed Alphonse Gangitano who I had tagged as the main character for the series. This week we see Mark Moran get similar treatment. The bad guys are killing each other off one by one.

The actor who plays Carl Williams does an excellent job of playing the dopey looking goal orientated gangster. But all of this killing and back stabbing is going to lead to distrust and poor judgement. Which will lead to great television.

Fifth episode in and they're still going strong. Two thumbs up.

Each week I become more and more engrossed in the Underbelly world. These criminals that think they are untouchable (and in most cases are) and the police that are attempting to get enough evidence to stick to them long enough to get them behind bars. The fact that it is based on truth is another reason why Underbelly is so addictive.

The lives of these crims is full of twists and turns the likes you'd expect from a block buster movie. With seemly stupid criminal activity done in board day light, from kidnapping to shootings this episode is another step up from what we've seen so far.

Both Underbelly and the characters in the story are so unpredictable and that is one of the strengths of this show. I really look forward to seeing what they can throw at us next week.

What an excellent surprise that reminds us of what Australian Drama should be. Underbelly is hitting all the marks. Parts of this episode were a little predictable but that is in no way the fault of the writers. Gangsters as it would be are some what predictable when it comes to looking out for their own.

This episode focused on Tracey and her child who try and escape the Moran family. I am frustrated that Tracey put more value on having her child "surrounded by family" than his own life. She had been a part of that network of gangsters for long enough to know what they are capable of and the lengths they will go to. Leaving the state would have been the common sense solution.

The montage of Mother and Son leading up to the killing was a little tacky and also made it more obvious about what was about to happen. Apart from this its Great Aussie Television.

Just as the first episode did Sorcerer's Apprentice delivers - solid performances, great drama and a twisting story.

We're only at the beginning stages of his drama and already we've got betrayal, affairs, lies and loyalties broken. True stories are always better than works of fiction, something about knowing that this actually happened.

It's great to see Australian Drama reaching new heights. Start watching before the rest of Australia leads you behind.

I'm a huge support of all Australian produced television shows and Underbelly is fast becoming one of the best Australian series produced in many years. The production has brought the true story of the Melbourne crime boss to the screen flawlessly. From the gritty introduction down to the actors portraying the characters it makes for beautiful television.

As a good story should we're thrown straight into the lion's den and once there you're emursed in the crime underworld of Melbourne.I really can't fault anything about this show thus far.

I really look forward to seeing how things will unfold.
