Sixty Second Review

I am a huge fan of the undead - vampires, zombies I want to watch it. With this in mind I looked forward to what Moonlight had to offer. Again the small screen is offering a television show with an undead lead.

The opening scene of this episode serves to bring the viewers up to date on Moonlight's version of the Vampire Mythology. A clever way to ensure that viewers understand that Holy Water, Garlic & stakes aren't a problem as much as Buffy would have led us to believe.

I was really impressed with all of the portrayals of the on screen characters. Alex O'Loughlin deserves a special mention. I was glad to see Jason Dohring return to the small screen, I know him best from his work as Logan on Veronica Mars. I was a little disappointed in his performance, he still screams Logan all over. Mostly his mannerisms. But I'm sure that this will change in episodes to come.

The episode was well paced and served well to introduce us to the characters. I was surprised to see that the creators revealed the connection between Mick & Beth within the first episode. But this serves to strengthen their bond and relationship.

The show is extremely similar to Angel. I have no doubt that each week we will see Mick solving crimes and Beth helping with her connections. Moonlight lacks the comedy element of Angel and has an overall darker feel. I hope that won't be a disadvantage. But only time will tell.

We open this episode with the depressing thought that happy endings don't exist. Hank sees this as a mission to improve his daughters outlook on life. Madeleine Martin plays Beccca so well, at the tender age of 15. She has the striking image which resembles Emily Strange.

Really another great episode with witty dialogue and new plot twists.

Predictably one of the team needs to be put in danger so our hero Michael can save the day. Is it me or has Yoghurt been a recurring theme on this show? Product placement maybe?

All good shows work up to something, its called a climax. They slowly introduce viewers to the bigger picture, piece by piece. With a few twists and turns along the way to keep us guessing. Burn Notice has none of these.

After I sat through 12 hours of television they didn't even have the decency to give us some closure. Granted they have been renewed for season two and they needed a cliff hanger... But it would appear that the best they could come up with was Michael meeting his burner.

I hope next season that they have some fresh ideas...

Finally we get to the season finale. I didn't have much hope, if the rest of the season was anything to go by. Things did pick up the pace at the end. I still thought that a trained agent standing still while someone was shot by a sniper right in front of him... was ridiculous - anyone would run for cover.

The rest of the episode was filler. The highlight was seeing Nicholle Tom (best known for her role as "Maggie Sheffield" on "The Nanny"). She sure has grown.

If I could turn off half of my brain this would probably be enjoyable.

What makes this show so good? Clever writing, dialogue that make you think. Dialogue that make you go 'uh that makes complete sense'. We've got all of these complex relationships going on. Yet people still surprise you once in a while.

I can't think of a single bad thing about Californication. If you're not already on board get a ticket, cause you're missing out!

Sorry I found it really hard to tell the difference from the "Emotional Invested Michael" to the "Normal Emotionless Michael". Did Jeffrey Donovan even go to acting school? Ok I just wikipedia-ed him:

After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst) with a B.A. in Theater, he went on to study at New York University, from which he earned an Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in acting.

This means that he can't be to blame, has to be a weak script? I will have to watch some of his other work to confirm. Apart from that it was great to see a twist from Lucy Lawless (Xena), although even her acting seemed watered down...

All in all another poor effort, but nice to see a rare plot twist...

So many people have just labelled this as trash and continue to do so. This episode say otherwise. The on screen chemistry between Hank and Karen is smoking hot. They just click with each other, its beautiful. Also super impressed with Becca, she plays her role has the 'finding her place in the world' teenager so well.

The writers are opening so many doors of different ways the show could go, they are already holding a few story lines up their sleeves. This show is only going to get more interesting as time goes on.

If you haven't seen an episode now is the time to jump in head first!

Just when you thought Hank was all silk sheets and hand cuffs we get an episode like this one. We're shown that Hank is more that the contents of his pants. Coming to the rescue of ladies in distress - his ex-girlfriend, his girlfriend and his daughter.

The core message of this episode was that Hank's character has depth and will do anything for the people he cares about.
